THE STORY OF JANE

"Jane is one of the most gifted dancers I know. Have you ever looked at someone and thought "he/she was born for this"? That is what goes through my mind every time the girl moves. She has been fighting relentlessly to achieve her dream of opening her own dance studio. She not only wants to make a name for herself, but to channel her passion for dance as well. I've seen her spend her last dime to organize a show or to raise funds to book a proper venue where she could perform with her crew.

HOW MANY JANES DO YOU KNOW?

In 2016, many Janes are still told their place is in the kitchen, some of them still don't have the right to dream and live their passion. I come from a continent blessed with extremely innovative minds, some globally acknowledged today. But then, how many amongst them are women? My Janes are orphans who need funding to get through primary school ; young ladies whose gifts are constantly underrated, artists who need the right platforms to showcase their work.

THIS IS WHY CREATIVE AND MOVING WOMEN WAS BORN

For all the Janes in Africa, who long to show our people how positively their input and creativity could change lives. They do not necessarily come from poor backgrounds but there's one thing all of them need: someone to believe in them. Someone who will let them try, give them a chance, support them. I chose to be that someone. It’s a decision you can make too. CAMwomen is more than a project, it’s a life changing journey, not only for Jane but for you and I as well." Vanessa Mbenoun, founder.
